Indulgent and delightful

No Italian Christmas can be complete without a traditional cake. Set the tone with a classic star-shaped Bauli Pandoro, or panettone from Da Valentina or Melegatti – with added chocolate if you like. Or add something a little bit different with a Tre Rossi Panettone with figs and hazelnuts.

Alternatively, you can choose Sienna’s local specialty, Seggiano Panforte, full of candied citrus fruit peels, rich spices and toasted almonds. Or try added chocolate or figs and walnuts for a new twist to this traditional favourite.

If you would like something a little more indulgent, try a lovely Lazzaroni Panettone with added ‘marron glaces’ (candied chestnuts) or Loison Panettone with figs or pears. For the spirit of Southern Italy, there’s also the seriously tipsy BonciPanbriacone cake, soused with deliciously sweet Vin Santo and Passito.

Mondo Di Laura’s delicious tastes are always appealing and Candy Spice cookies are ideal for Christmas. Or, how about a lovely tin of assorted gluten-free Del ChiostroAmaretti? Crunchy or soft – take your pick.

Torrone nougat is one of the most traditional Italian Christmas sweets. The historic town of Benevento in Campania is the traditional home of torroneand also the Alberti factory, where the famous Italian strega liqueur is made. So, it’s hardly surprising that Alberti has combined torrone and strega and covered it with chocolate. What could be better for your celebrations?
